Actress Jodi Benson who voices Ariel in all of Disney's Little Mermaid projects was actually the studios first choice for the voice of Belle in 1991's La bella e la bestia (1991); however ,the role was ultimately given to Paige O'Hara. Benson did voice Belle for a limited time during the early seasons of House of Mouse - Il Topoclub (2001).
