Senator Corvus (Kiefer Sutherland), makes several statements about the "new" Emperor Titus, and intimated that he was corrupt and violent. Titus had succeeded Vespasian as emperor only 2 months before Vesuvius erupted, so he was, in fact, a "new" emperor. Titus, however, would be remembered as an extraordinarily generous, charitable, and just Emperor.
