When Cuban actress Ana de Armas was cast to play Marilyn Monroe, Americans were outraged and pointed out that it was very "hypocritical" for her to play Monroe at a time when there would have been major outrage if a Caucasian actress were cast to portray a real Cuban actress in a biopic. However, Ana de Armas is a white woman of European descent, just like Monroe was. The outrage happened because many Americans don't know that white people exist in Latin American countries such as Cuba.
