In September 1990,Shashi Kapoor stated that the rumors of the film being released in Russia and being declared a flop was a lie. It was Shashi's jealous enemies in the industry that spread these rumors and the media picked it up. The Gorky studio's from Russia confirmed the news to Shashi Kapoor. The Russians had 4 trial showings then withdrew the film. The rumors are stupid as the film is incomplete. 35% of the film's negatives were with Shashi Kapoor. The Russians had only 4 songs with them,but Shashi had all 6 songs. Certain special effects were still to be provided to them. There is no way they could release a incomplete film. What was true was that the Russian producer's were angry with Shashi for not having the film complete on the promised time. Even the Indian distributors and financiers were getting impatient as the film's delay was causing problems. Amitabh had promised to finish the dubbing when he would return from Mauritius in August.
