On first meeting BB-8 on Jakku, Rey asks him where he came from. He says that it's a secret, to which she responds "Classified? Really? Me too. Big secret." Rey's secret origin soon becomes one of the central mysteries of the sequel series. Fans didn't like Abrams answer of her being Palpatine's grandchild. And liked more Rian Johnson's The Last Jedi plot of Rey being a no one.
