The hand-cranked motion-picture camera carried around by Carl Denham is a genuine antique Bell & Howell 2709, which is also the same type of camera used in the original King Kong (1933). According to Sir Peter Jackson's commentary on the extended version of the film, the actual camera was much too heavy to carry around. What you see for most of the film is a replica made out of foam.
