A novelization of the movie, written by Alan Dean Foster, was published in 1981. It elaborated on certain characters a lot more than this movie. For example, all of Thallo's soldiers who accompany Perseus have names and dialogue, whereas in this movie, their faces are barely seen, and they have no lines or names.
