Apart from the first scene the movie takes place over two days and three nights. The first night is Mowgli and Bagheera starting the journey to the man village and the first day is when he meets Baloo and is kidnapped by the monkeys. So by the end of the movie despite the fact he seems to have bonded with Baloo he has only known him for a day and a half at most.
