The irony of the hyenas goose-stepping as Scar presides is ironic in light of the German dub. Thomas Fritsch, the voice of Scar, is the son of Willy Fritsch, a performer, singer and reluctant Nazi. Willy had joined the Nazi party under pressure and had avoided getting involved in any propaganda. Although he survived, he was partially watched by the Gestapo.
