All three of the Hannibal Lecters who have appeared in a Marvel film have also made reference to the character. Magneto's escape in X-Men 2 (2003) resembles Lecter's escape from Il silenzio degli innocenti (1991). In The Avengers (2012), Loki (foster son of Odin, played by Anthony Hopkins) taunts Black Widow from within a glass cage. In this film, Kaecilius wears a face mask similar to Lecter's.
