Both John and Connor Rooney foreshadow the accidental killing of Peter Sullivan instead of Michael. At the wake, when John sees the boys and ask them to give him a hug, he half-jokingly asks which is Peter and Michael. A bit later when Michael goes to retrieve John's jacket from his study and encounters Connor on the couch smoking, Connor asks "which little Sullivan are you?" A day later, Connor shoots Peter in the Sullivan house thinking it's Michael, and relays that misinformation to his father.
