H.R. Giger disliked the ending the scripwriters had created, feeling it was too similar to both Alien³ and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He eventually convinced them to finish Sil by headshot and not with fire. Giger felt that flamethrowers were both too similar to Alien and, that with his intention of Sil to actually emit heat as a defense, fire would be completely ineffective.
