Natasha Henstridge was considered for the role of Jill Valentine in this film, as well as in early drafts of Resident Evil (2002). Supplemental material for Biohazard 2 (1998) credited Henstridge's film Specie mortale (1995) as a source of inspiration for the games, particularly the male victims' death by "inbreeding" and female characters who mutate into grotesque, but sexually attractive creatures.
