A deleted scene showed Freeze trying to fire his rifle at Batman's Ice Armor costume, showing it harmlessly reflect off the outside of his cape, due to a special coating. This explains why he does not try it in the final cut and confirms that the silver plating is the same ice blast deflecting material the Bathammer hull is made from. The comic book adaptation depicts this moment.
