The 'jingle bell' flower (that this whole story showcases) is called a Fuchsia Sp. They are an annual plant that blooms spring to fall in milder climates. It would be very difficult to grow this variety of plant in Alaska (where the woman goes to retrieve the blossoms for her client's wedding bouquet) even in a protective green house. Also, the blossoms last about 1-2 days before discoloring and wilting, the florist would have to make the arrangements just before the ceremony in order for them to appear fresh. They come in a variety of colors, usually with a contrast: red/purple, red/white, dark pink/white, dark pink/light pink, etc.
