Critic Rex Reed drew considerable ire when his review singled out Melissa McCarthy's weight, calling her "a hippo", "obese" and "humongous". One of his own many critics was McCarthy's frequent director Paul Feig who cordially invited Reed on Twitter to "go fuck himself". Melissa also responded to Reed's deplorable fat-shaming: "It's hard for me to even understand or relate to someone like that who's just swimming in hate. Almost feel sorry for him. Because my life's not like that at all."
