In the first couple of minutes of the movie, Ben Thomas (Will Smith) says, "In seven days God created the world, and in seven seconds I shattered mine." Later on in the movie while Ben and his wife are driving down the road, it takes seven seconds from the time Ben takes his eyes off the road to the moment the car accident takes place.
