Emile Ardolino had previously directed Three Men and a Little Lady (1990), the sequel to Three Men and a Baby (1987), which was directed by Leonard Nimoy. His son, Adam Nimoy, directed the episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1992 that featured both Whoopi Goldberg and Isis Carmen Jones in her only other screen credit.
