Actress Sharni Vinson was cast in the lead female role of Kathy Jacquard on the recommendation of the production's international sales agent and on the back of the success of 'You're Next' (2011) which had played at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where her performance had got excellent reviews and the movie had been a great success.
