Luis Llosa (director and creator of the film) took a lot of inspiration from the South American folklore of Venezuela, Brazil and Colombia, the countries in which the Green Anaconda is endemic, in these countries there are different legends and myths that surround this species of snake from being considered a man-eater or a deity by indigenous tribes.
