In the graphic novel, after he murders Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan simply walks back into the compound as if nothing has happened and talks with Ozymandias. In the film, after he murders Rorschach, he stays in the spot for a while and gently catches Rorschach's fedora in the wind. Likewise, Dan Dreiberg/Nite Owl II, who wasn't present during this scene in the graphic novel, was present when this happened and broke down in tears, mourning Rorschach. When he teleports back into the compound, Dr. Manhattan says goodbye to Laurie before disappearing from Earth. Consequently, Dr. Manhattan seems more remorseful in the film than in the graphic novel.
