The Exorcist is the first horror film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. The only other one is Scappa - Get Out (2017). Lo squalo (1975), Il silenzio degli innocenti (1991) and The Sixth Sense - Il sesto senso (1999) were all nominated, and "The Silence of the Lambs" won, but, these films are not designated as horror films on IMDb.
