Jon Polito was only 39 years old when he played Johnny Caspar, the same age as Gabriel Byrne, despite the script implying Johnny is an older man than Tom (referring to him as "kid"). Polito claimed it helped his career going forward being thought of as an older character actor, having struggled to find his image as a young actor.
