The role of Hobson was played by Dame Helen Mirren. In Arturo (1981) and Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988), Hobson was played by Sir John Gielgud, who won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role Oscar for this part. Mirren and Gielgud appeared in Caligola (1979).
