Dame Agatha Christie based the Armstrong story on the Lindbergh kidnapping and murder of 1932. In this movie, the fictitious Colonel Armstrong's wife Sonia Goldenberg Armstrong and her family are Jewish. Charles A. Lindbergh was very anti-Semitic, and in the late 1930s and into the 1940s, he was a Nazi sympathizer who virulently opposed U.S. entry into World War II.
