The character of Michel Gerard is French. The actor who plays Michel, Yanic Truesdale, is actually French-Canadian, born in Québec, where the official language is French. Even so, unlike his character, he doesn't really have a French accent when he speaks English; he based Michel's articulation on a Parisian accent.
