On Sergeant Angel's first working day in Sandford, whilst the whole station is on their lunch break in the pub to celebrate Angel's arrival, one of the Andy's states that "everyone and their mum is packing in the country". He then gives the example of farmers and their mums having guns. This is later demonstrated when Angel returns to Sandford for his shoot-out, the first person he comes across is Mr Reaper, a farmer, who calls for help off his mum, who happens to have a shotgun.
