Even though he has usurped the throne and refers to himself as 'King', Prince John is not called King John throughout the entire film, except when referred to as 'the Phoney King of England'. Instead, each character refers to him as 'Prince John', even those characters who are employed by him. However, these characters, and others who formally meet Prince John, do refer to him as 'sire' and 'Your Majesty'.
