In 2008 there was an action thriller in development in which Nicolas Cage was going to play very similar character like Cameron Poe from this film. It was titled Riot (originally titled Scared Straight), written by Joe Gazzam and was going to be "Die Hard (1988) in a prison" type of movie about troubled teen who is put into Scared Straight crime-prevention program and taken into worst prison in the country, right as massive riot breaks out, and teen and some lifer prisoner who would have been played by Cage have to fight their way through the prison and all inmates and save other hostages. The film was set to be directed by John Carpenter and if it got made, it could have been the last film he directed, however the film was cancelled.
