The special effects in Casper were done by ILM (Industrial Light and Magic), and the movie features more than 40 minutes of special effects. It was also one of the first digital performers in history and features a full range of facial expressions. The pupils in Casper's eyes were even adjust to the changing light. The digital work on Casper and the Ghostly Trio took almost two years and resulted in 28 trillion bytes (28,000 gigabytes) of data.
