At the beginning of the film, when Abigail (Rachel Weisz) and Jack (Mark Wahlberg) are in bed and are starting to kiss, the paperback that Abigail tries to place on the nightstand, and which ultimately falls to the floor, is "Exile and the Kingdom" by Albert Camus. Also visible in the stack of books on the floor is Virginia Woolf's "To The Lighthouse."
