In the scene in which Leia meets Tarkin, she says her quote "I recognized your foul stench when I was brought on board" with a noticeable British accent. Carrie Fisher later revealed that right before shooting that scene, she got the direction from George Lucas that Leia will be upset. She further explained that whenever she became upset, she would speak with a British accent, which lead to the moment being filmed as seen. In the canon novel "Bloodline", it is explained that Leia used that accent to mock Tarkin.
