According to Anne Rice, it is stated in the novels that the vampires shed blood tears, as all their body fluids are replaced with blood. In the show, Louis does shed blood tears. However, in Intervista col vampiro (1994), (e.g. when Louis remembers Claudia's death), his tears are normal.
