In real life, Annie Oakley and her husband, Frank E. Butler ("Toby Walker" in the film), died 18 days apart in 1926. According to reports, Frank was so despondent over Annie's death that he stopped eating and died from malnutrition and starvation. They were both interred in Greenville, Ohio.
