Was originally intended to be about one hour long, but when Universal postponed Peter Jackson's take on King Kong due to an inflation of monster movies that year (Godzilla (1998) and Il grande Joe (1998) being the prime examples), Jackson was able to expand and delve deeper into this documentary, making it exceptionally longer. Jackson finally did make King Kong (2005) for Universal seven years later.
