The role of Justice Hernandez was originally offered to the late Miriam Defensor Santiago, a former regional trial court judge and senator of the Philippines who also served as the Pilippine Agrarian Reform Secretary, Chairwoman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and International Criminal Court Judge. Had Santiago accepted the role, this would be her film debut.
