Several scenes throughout the series suggest apples are the "forbidden fruit" in this universe's mythology, such as Lucifer greeting an apple with "Hello, old friend," or Eve ordering an appletini with a pile of apples next to her at the bar in her first appearance. Pomegranates appear, but more in connection with Greek mythology rather than Christian theology (not as a forbidden fruit so much as an imprisoning one). While Eve states the "forbidden fruit" was more like a banana, she is referring to her and Lucifer's early sexual activities, not talking about or in any way confirming anything about a literal banana.
