Whoopi Goldberg and Max Grodénchik have played supporting characters on Star Trek series. Goldberg played Guinan on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), and Grodénchik guest starred as different characters in multiple episodes of the same series, before landing the role of Rom on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993). Coincidentally, both recurring roles had to do with running a bar.
