The "Poltergeist Curse" is an urban legend based around the fact that there have been several unfortunate deaths of actors who appeared in the franchise, as well as other strange events. It is believed by some to have been caused by the use of real skeletons on-set. This became the focus of the E! True Hollywood Story: Curse of the Poltergeist (2002).
