(at around 2h) When Tony Stark is fighting against the first Chitauri Leviathan, he asks J.A.R.V.I.S. if he knows Jonah's tale. According to the Bible, Jonah was God's prophet to Nineveh. Jonah ran from God's call, and when a big storm came upon the ship, in which he was travelling, he jumped over the side to save the passengers from God's displeasure. He was swallowed by a whale, and it delivered him to Nineveh after three days.
