The movie was rumored to be set in the same universe as Blade Runner (1982). On Todd's service record displayed on the computer screen. Todd fought in battles of Tannhauser Gate and Shoulder of Orion. Those battles were mentioned by Roy Batty in the Blade Runner movie. Both movies are written by David Webb Peoples.
