The ability to heal with the Force as displayed by Rey was touched upon a few times before in the movie series: it is implied that Emperor Palpatine stabilizes the severely burned Anakin through touch on Mustafar in Star Wars: Episodio III - La vendetta dei Sith (2005), and Obi-Wan Kenobi appears to awaken an unconscious Luke in Guerre stellari (1977) this way. This healing ability may be an extension of the life-prolonging Force power ("cheat death") that Palpatine refers to in Revenge of the Sith. This use of the Force is considered to be associated with the Sith, and coupled with Rey's use of Force lightning, is another indicator of how susceptible she is to the Dark Side of the Force.
