Disney's sequel trilogy is the first trilogy in the Star Wars saga in which all three movies were released in the same decade. It's also the first time an entire Star Wars trilogy is released in a four-year period; the previous two were each released in six-year periods. George Lucas always stated he would had taken 6 years to do the trilogy (instead of rushing to 4 like J.J. Abrams did). Rian Johnson declined directing both Episode VIII and Episode IX because Lucasfilm and Disney weren't willing to give him more time to write a proper script (although he accepted The Last Jedi because he was given enough time). At the end J.J. Abrams accepted with a shorter time-line and George Lucas didn't liked The Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker is considered the worst live action theatrical Star Wars film by critics.
