Although made in Switzerland, the main language used in the movie is Standard German rather than Swiss German. The latter is a heavy dialect form of (Standard) German used only in Switzerland, and is generally not intelligible by other German speakers without the use of subtitles. Even though most Swiss people communicate informally with each other in Swiss German, the Standard German was probably chosen as the vernacular in the movie to appeal to a wider German-speaking audience.
