An extract from Time Out criticises and praises the film as follows, "Yet the film's depiction of numerous bisexual women with murky, murderous pasts has angered activists and does illustrate that sensitivity is not always the strong suit of director Paul Verhoeven or writer Joe Eszterhas. But if you like things hard, adult, unrestrained and off the rails, then Douglas and Stone are superb, while Dzundza (as sidekick Gus) delivers another classic hard boiled cameo".
