Phil Harris was the long time band leader and eventual cast member of the Jack Benny radio show. One of Benny's running gags was that he always claimed to be 39. Harris took a humorous dig at Benny in this movie. At the time, Harris was 50 but his character in this film claims that he is 38 - a year "younger" than Benny.
