Sam "tests" two of his companions with a cup of coffee, with contrasting results. By pretending to knock off a cup, Sam makes Gregor show his excellent reflexes when he catches it; this exposes the laid-back Gregor as more dangerous than he seemed. Later, during his argument with Spence, Sam makes Spence bump into a cup of hot coffee, which distracts him and allows Sam to overpower him.
