Towards the climax, Ilarde specifically chose the film Temptation Island (1980) to be screening on the neighbor's television set as an homage to his old producing mentor Joey Gosiengfiao. The late Gosiengfiao was the general manager of Regal Films' low-budget boutique division Good Harvest Unlimited. Ilarde and other young filmmakers then, like arthouse auteur Lav Diaz, had gotten their industry breaks under the tutelage of Gosiengfiao who was a longtime confidante of Regal's owner Mother Lily Monteverde.
