Robin Hardy, director of the original 18 rated The Wicker Man (1973), used that film to explore sexuality and nudity in a puritanical world by showing the Summerisle residents' strong sexual freedom and connection to nature. The film included a lot of nude cavorting and dancing. This 12 rated remake ignored that and didn't include nudity or sexual themes at all.
