Brian's (Anthony Michael Hall) personality completely changes once he smokes pot. He starts talking like Chubby Checker and making raunchy jokes. It's also in this scene that the clean cut character is revealed to have a pornographic picture in his wallet. Hall would revisit the "ebonics" drawl in La donna esplosiva (1985), released the same year, while his character is drunk.
